BECOMING A BAR/BAT MITZVAH

The attainment of this important Jewish milestone welcomes our youth into the CBI community and prepares them to take their place as participating members of the Jewish People.

A Bar or Bat Mitzvah ceremony at B’nai Israel is a joyous life cycle event celebrated by the Bar/Bat Mitzvah, friends, family and the entire congregation.  Congregation B’nai Israel is known as a haimishe (warm, friendly, down to earth) place. The spirituality of becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah is a reflection of shared standards and traditions.

Becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah integrates participants into the religious life of the congregation through individualized instruction from our Rabbi and Cantor, building upon the many years of learning in our Religious School or local Jewish Day Schools. Bar and Bat Mitzvah candidates learn the basic religious skills which help them feel at home at the bima and in the synagogue.

This section contains the congregation’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah Handbook and information and online sign-up system for ushering.
