Shalom Congregants,
In Exodus Chapter 35 Moses descends from Mount Sinai for a second time, after having received the second set of tablets from God. The covenant has been renewed and the construction of the tabernacle may proceed. Moses speaks to the entire community, and signals that the building of the tabernacle will involve all the Israelites.
In Verse 21 we read: And everyone whose heart was inspired and whose spirit moved them brought their gifts to the Lord. From this we learn that the spirit of volunteerism is deeply embedded in the tradition and culture of our people. More than 3,000 years after our ancestors built the Mishkan, this spirit of volunteerism is alive and well at CBI. At our June 10 Volunteer Recognition Ceremony, we honored nearly 250 volunteers who served our CBI community during the past year. This extraordinary level of involvement speaks volumes about member commitment to CBI.
As everyone in the Israelite community participated in the building of the Mishkan, here at CBI, so many of you volunteer because you have that same commitment to community, to something larger than us. CLICK HERE to see our scrolling Volunteer Marquee with their activities, a testament to the depth and breadth of volunteerism at CBI. I hope it inspires you to say “thank you” to fellow members, and to participate along with them.
I want to take this opportunity to recognize and thank all of you who have given of yourselves as a volunteer to enrich our CBI community, and to support our financial needs with your contributions. We would not be the incredible community that we are without you, and we are grateful for all that you do!
Wishing you and yours a relaxing and enjoyable summer.
With Gratitude,
Henry Bloom
