Hearts & Hands is the social action arm of the synagogue. This committee coordinates and supports activities that further the principles of tikkun olam, chesed and tzedakah. Efforts are focused within our own congregation as well as outside in our local community and across the country. The committee welcomes new members who would like to get more involved. Some of Hearts & Hands major projects include:
Throughout the year Hearts & Hands organizes food collections, including the High Holiday Food Drive and collections for JRA as well as on-site support for JRA food packaging.
Hearts & Hands helps run a Mitzvah Day Fair, which brings together representatives from charitable organizations for a day of learning and practicing tzedakah, chesed and tikkun olam.
The AAA program is Congregation B’nai Israel’s response to hunger within our community. AAA is open to all adult members of the synagogue (seventh graders to age 18 with parents). CBI volunteers through the AAA program bring food or go to volunteer at the following pantry and soup kitchen sites on a monthly basis.
